Washburn Acoustic Guitars: WD160SW Dreadnought

”Solid Quality – Solid Choice”The Washburn WD160SW is a solid choice when it comes to quality. Not only does this beauty have a
solid cedar top, but its body is made out of
solid mahogany, a rare treat for a guitar in this price range.
The combination of solid cedar and mahogany gives the WD160SW a warm, woody tone whose resonance is rich and ideal for accompanying yourself or someone else on vocals. Washburn is known for their good acoustic guitars, and the WD160SW does not disappoint.
Built on a dreadnought body, the WD160SW has a deep body and is wide across the shoulders, a combination that is known for producing a guitar with a fantastic volume that can be heard in nearly every situation and can be used for both fingerstyle play and pick play, though it seems to have been designed specifically for a flatpicker. It does tend to be a bit much to handle for smaller guitarists, and it can get a bit mushy if used solely for fingerstyle playing.
At ~$499 it is tempting to say that the WD160SW is a cheap acoustic guitar, but the quality of this piece makes it hard to put it in that category as it is a solid choice when you are looking for a quality acoustic guitar that won’t break the bank.
