”Comfortable in Its Own Skin”The Taylor 214 G-L Grand Auditorium is definitely comfortable in its own skin. Not only is it a guitar to die for (aesthetically speaking) but produces a sound that will knock you off your feet.
With a
solid Sitka spruce top and Indian rosewood laminate back and sides, the 214-G-L has the look of a classical guitar; especially with the way the light seems to fall into the rosewood. But it doesn’t stop with looks. The 214 –G-L also has a richly bold tone that will definitely announce your presence with authority no matter what sort of circumstances you are playing in.
The full-bodied tone of this beauty lends itself well to both light-touch fingerstyle playing as well as full-blown strumming, though it tends to sound a bit boxy when treated to aggressive flatpicking. But that is a downfall that can be overcome by choosing strings that are right for your particular playing style. And the body depth and rounded shape lends itself well to all except the very smallest of players.
At just $799 (including the hardshell case), the Taylor 214 G-L Grand Auditorium is definitely a guitar that has found its purpose in life and is comfortable in its own skin. Hardly surprising given that Taylor makes some of the best acoustic guitars on the market.
