“The Camper’s Guitar”Looking for a cheap, decent-sounding guitar you can take camping? Priced at less than $150, the Jasmine S34C NEX Cutaway Acoustic Guitar is the guitar for you! The S34C has more projection, tone complexity, clarity and sustain compared to other similarly-priced guitars. Its large sound is attributable to its large NEX body. The construction is strong, making it an ideal guitar to endure the bumps associated with backpacking and camping. Furthermore, this guitar holds its tune! It sports a spruce top, though it is laminated spruce and not a solid spruce top. This means that the tone of the guitar will not be as rich as those made with a solid spruce top. But there are other features to recommend it, such as its nato back and sides, a 21-fret mahogany neck, covered chromes turning machines, and a satin finish which helps to enhance the S34C’s resonance.
The bridge and fretboard are made of rosewood and have a nice feel when played. The cutout in the neck allows easy access to the higher frets. While the initial feel of the guitar is one of tightness, as if all the different parts are straining against each other, with a few adjustments, the S34C NEX Cutaway Acoustic Guitar can become a valued addition for the travelling musician.
