”For the Miniature Musician”The Takamine JS241 ½ scale Acoustic Guitar reflects Takamine understands that musicians come in all shapes and sizes. Just because a guitar player is young, or small (or both) does not mean that they should not be able to play a quality instrument.
To this end, Takamine has created the JS241. Half the size of a normal guitar, this smaller version enables those with a smaller build to be able to comfortably play the guitar, and the quality of its build includes a spruce top and mahogany body. Though both the top and body are laminated, the tone is still very well-balanced for an instrument of this size. Note that if the wrong strings are chosen it can tend towards a rather tinny sound.
The gloss finish of the JS241 ensures that even without a pick guard, it will take some doing to scratch or dent the surface of this model. And at <$140, parents of beginning students will not hesitate to give their child the chance to learn to play due to budget constraints.
All in all, this is the perfect guitar for budding classical musicians, and will not cost a fortune to replace as the child’s skills and body grows. For those 5-8 years old, this is a great kid’s beginner guitar.
