I have a 1996 early version of the S6 with LR Baggs electronics, solid cedar top and cherrywood laminate side/back. I bought it used in 2001 and did not fully know what I had. I have since learned to appreciate this instrument. It has aged wonderfully with great tone quality. Better musicians than I who play it have been astonished at the sound. The downside to a cedar top is the wood softness which is prone to scar easily.
