”¾ Sized Student Guitar With Great Volume”

When buying an acoustic guitar for the child who is just starting, the Mitchell MDJ10 Junior dreadnought acoustic guitar can be an awesome choice! Everyone knows that kids lose interest in things pretty quickly. But with the MDJ10 Junior dreadnought, the sound will be so great that they are going to want to keep playing!

When you realize that the quality craftsmanship of the MDJ10 is combined with a spruce top and carved mahogany body, you will understand why this inexpensive student model has such great projection and such a balanced tone for a guitar of this size.

Scaled down dramatically from the adult sized models, the MDJ10 (which is a ¾ sized model) may not have the volume of the adult sized dreadnought guitars, but it is definitely able to be heard. In fact it has a decidedly louder volume than most other ¾ sized guitars. Its volume is hardly a drawback, however, though you might have a problem with the buzzing of the strings.

The buzzing that you can find in the strings of the MDJ10 can be adjusted by choosing a lighter string for the guitar. While this may cost a little bit extra the definite difference it will make to the tone will be well worth it.

Another point is that it’s sustain is quite good given that it does not have a solid top. While guitar reviews will agree that a solid top is a better choice for a beginning guitarist, without it you have to tune your guitar more often. And when you are just starting out this can be a good thing, for all beginners need to be able to be comfortable tuning their guitars.

At just ~$119 the Mitchell MDJ10 Junior dreadnought acoustic guitar is an excellent bargain (it even comes with its own gig bag!) and will give your child the edge of being able to play a good acoustic guitar from day one.

This is a Solid Top!! NEW
by: Rom

This guitar is a Solid Sitka Spruce top. Below are specs from Mitchell's site. Musicians Friend and Guitar Center also show the same. I already have a Martin and other full size guitars but needed something for travel and a beater. Just bought one of these, craftsmanship is really nice, I would want to keep it in good care like my Martin. But if something does happen to it, I wouldn't feel as bad if I bought a travel size Martin or Taylor. Intonation is great and keeps in tune on this Mitchell out of the box. Mind you, this is a 3/4 size, don't expect that much low end but it's there. It seems the more I play it, the low end gets more pronounce.
I tried the Yamaha JR2, intonation was bad and wouldn't hold its tune, maybe its just a bad one.

Toys... NEW
by: Graham

These are toy guitars. If you want a toy guitar, they don't come much better than this. If you want a REAL guitar, you'll need to spend $100 or so MORE, or buy a 'used' instrument. I strongly advise the purchase of a solid-top guitar to avoid disappointment.
