Discover the Mahalo Ukulele
If you play the ukulele chances are that you have heard of, or perhaps even have played a Mahalo Ukulele. How good are Mahalo instruments, really? Are they worth the price that you pay for one? Better yet, how did the company get started?
About Ukuleles
As you probably know, a ukulele is a small four-stringed Hawaiian instrument that is similar to the guitar in shape, but which, with just four strings, has a decidedly different sound. Originating in the 19th century, the Hawaiian ukulele was actually an adaptation of the Portuguese “cavaquinho” and whose popularity spread from Hawaii to the rest of the United States during the first part of the 20th century.
With the increasing popularity of the ukulele, more and more music and guitar manufacturers have taken to manufacturing ukuleles in order to meet the demand. In fact, it is because of this ever growing popularity that Mahola Ukuleles came into existence.
About the Mahalo Ukulele
Mahalo got their start when the large musical manufacturer – Saga Musical Instruments – decided to add a ukulele line to their products over thirty years ago. One of the largest importers and distributors of stringed musical instruments in world, Saga Musical Instruments prides itself in being able to provide high quality musical instruments to everyone that would like to play, regardless of their budget. In fact, Saga is very proud of the fact that they send their collectors all over the world looking for the very best quality of stringed instruments which they can then add to their diverse collection.
Always on the lookout for new ways of manufacturing; for new techniques and touches that will improve a musician’s experience, Saga spares no expense in developing their product lines; many times going directly to the source when they are looking at adding a new instrument. This is exactly what they did when they added the ukulele; going directly to manufacturers in Hawaii to see how the best ukuleles were made.
A ukulele is a great choice for a beginning musician. Not only is a Mahalo Ukulele a good quality instrument, you also have a broad range of choices when it comes to sizes, shapes, colors and tonewoods. Most importantly however, a ukulele is affordable, which means that even a beginning player; someone who is uncertain if they will be playing the ukulele a year from now; will be able to afford a good quality instrument.
As with the construction of any stringed instrument, the volume and tone of a Mahalo Ukulele will vary depending on the size of the instrument and the materials that it is made out of. Like most ukulele manufacturers, Mahalo makes four different sizes of ukuleles; soprano, concert, tenor and baritone. The tone and volume of the instrument varies with size and construction. Ukuleles commonly come in four sizes: soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone, so no matter which type of ukulele you wish to play, you’ll be able to find a Mahalo to suit your needs.
