”The Dead Ringer That’s a Vintage Singer”The Gibson 1937 L-00 Acoustic Guitar is a precise reproduction of Lee Parnell’s original guitar, right down to the
solid Adirondack spruce top, the bone nut and saddle, the bracing, and the placement of the saw marks.
A modern remake of a 1930’s classic, the Gibson 1937 L-00 has a mahogany back and sides which, when combined with the solid spruce top, gives the 1937 L-00 a brightly expectant tone that lends itself well to classic blues-style playing. The small, curvy guitar body of the 1937 L-00 rests easily against the torso and on the lap, a decided plus if you play a lot or have a smaller build, and very easy to use as a performance guitar even with its heavier bracing.
On the down side, priced at ~$5,200, the 1937 L-00, will not take its place among cheap acoustic guitars. In fact, it is rather high priced even for a vintage replica guitar, especially as the model is a dead ringer for country music artist Lee Roy Parnell’s original, even down to the nicks and dings on the body. But the uncomplicated tone with its definitive bass and bell-like trebles is very accurate for the model, making it a great favorite with those who are into vintage sound.
