Fender Acoustic Guitars: CD140S

“Sweet Deal on a Sweet Sounding Guitar”The Fender CD 140S Acoustic Guitar is a sweet little number. Well, emphasis on the sweet, because she’s not that little.
Built on a dreadnought jumbo body, the CD 140S is a big guitar. She is made with a
solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides which give her a warm, rounded tone that is surprisingly rich and sweet for a guitar that only costs ~$199. What a great deal for a beginner acoustic guitar. But while the CD 140S sounds good, she does tend to lose her good tone relatively quickly unless regularly tuned, and doesn’t project as well as many other dreadnoughts, though it still has a fairly decent resonance.
While the tone of the 140S is good, when you compare it with the ~$199-priced
Epiphone AJ-220S (which is built on an advanced jumbo body design and also comes with a solid spruce top and mahogany sides) you get a bigger, richer, more vibrant tone for the same price. But the Fender CD 140S does come with the Fender name, and her solid spruce top will, like other solid tops, will just keep sounding better with age.
