”Easy-to-Handle Shape with Great Tone”The Breedlove Passport C200/SMP Acoustic Guitar has two things that most guitars in its class are lacking; elegance and sophistication. From the soft sheen of its satin finish to its gently curving body, a guitar review of the C200/SMP will show that it is an instrument that will not only capture your eye but will provide you with years’ worth of musical enjoyment.
Built on a full C20 shape, this Breedlove beauty is far easier to handle than its dreadnought counterparts thanks to its shapely body. And, it produces a brightly warm sound that puts you in mind of what honey would taste like if it were transformed into music. It’s easy to play too, something that other guitars in this price range have a hard time living up to.
Perhaps the richness of this tone has something to do with its laminated maple back and sides, or more likely its
solid spruce top. Regardless of whether it’s the woods or the attention to craftsmanship that are Breedlove’s signature trademark, the tone of the C200/SMP is unique enough to have to go to a high end guitar in order to find a comparison.
If you are looking for something similar in tone to compare the C200/SMP to you may very well have to look at a
Martin 00015M for overall shape and depth of sound. Mind you the Martin is made of solid Mahogany which gives it a far richer and warmer sound the Breedlove, but the Breedlove is about as far above its contemporaries as the Martin is above the Breedlove. Another point is that the Breedlove C200/SMP acoustic guitar at just ~$349 costs a good $800 less than the Martin which means that you don’t have to wait until you are independently wealthy in order to enjoy the richness of sound that the C200/SMP can bring into your life. By the way, this Breedlove comes with a lightweight gig bag.
