”An Affordable Left-Handed Beginner’s Guitar”The Alvarez RD16L Regent Series Left Handed Dreadnought Acoustic guitar was designed specifically with beginning left handed guitarists in mind.
Learning to play guitar is hard enough, but learning to play guitar when you are left handed can be doubly difficult, especially when there are so few left handed guitars available. And most of them are priced well beyond a beginning guitarist’s reach.
It is a fact that good quality left handed guitars are notoriously expensive. But Alvarez believes that even beginning left handed guitarists deserve a great guitar at an affordable price, which is why they have come up with the RD16L.
The RD16L is built on a dreadnought body. In fact, it has most of the same specifications as the Alvarez RD16 Regent Series Dreadnought acoustic guitar which is one of the best entry level guitars available in its price range.
With its dreadnought body the RD16 is rather wide of shoulder and deep of body; aspects that can make it a bit hard to handle for smaller or younger players. But the same aspects that make it hard to handle also combine to give it a rich, well-rounded tone.
Made with a spruce top and mahogany back and sides, the RD16L makes up for its large size with a well-a nicely woody flavor and sports the Alvarez bi-level bridge which helps its resonance in spite of the fact that it is not a solid top guitar.
With a thinner neck than many dreadnoughts, the Alvarez RD16L has great playability, though it tends to lose its tone fairly quickly thanks to its having a laminated top. But for ~$175, you are looking at a real bargain, especially the quality of left handed guitars available in this price range.
